✦ Synopsis
The calcium salt of the monoethyl ester of phosphonic acid was used as a comonomer for synthesizing poly(ethylene tetrephthalate), containing an ionic bond in its main chain. It was established that higher P and Ca contents reduce the relative viscosity and increase the content of oligomers and diethylene glycol. With 0.4% P and 0.25% Ca, the modified resin has the following characteristics: ~ = 1.384; --COOH ~ 54.27 mg eqv. KOH/g × 10-+; m.p. 241-242°; oligomers ffi 3.24%; diethylene glycol = 6.09%. The comonomer gives a thermostabilizing effect. The modified resin has improved flame resistance.

## Abstract **Summary:** It is a big challenge to improve simultaneously both the flame retardancy and the melt‐dripping resistance of polymeric materials such as PET. In this paper, a novel intumescent flame retardant, DPSPB, was synthesized and blended with copolyester PET‐__co__‐DDP/O‐MMT nanoco
New phosphorus-containing polyimides, polyamides and polyureas with saturated and unsaturated imide pendant groups were synthesized and characterized. Their synthesis was based on the monoamic acid derived from the reaction of tris(3-aminophenyl)phosphine oxide (TAPO) with an equimolar amount of suc
