If phosphorus ligands have found a tremendous development for homogeneous catalysis, they sometimes offer disadvantages, like tedious synthesis or sensitivity toward air and moisture. Chiral thioureas have been synthesized and used as ligands for the asymmetric hydroformylation of styrene catalysed

The synthesis and the effect of phosphite-phosphonate ligands in rhodium-catalyzed hydroformylation of styrene are described. Activity and selectivity of the catalyst are improved, at low temperature, by increasing bulkiness of both phosphite and phosphonate moieties.
