โœฆ Synopsis

Pbxe transitions in the solid phase of bromoform have been studied by drelectric and differential sunning calorimetric techniques_ Two modifications of the solid phase, solid I and solid II. have been observed above znd below about -3_SaC respectivel_v_ Solid phase I exhibits clear Debye-type dispersion in the 05 to 100 kHz frequenc_r region. ~bile solid phase II exbbits complete dipole freezing_

Lattice dynamical calculations are reported for two possible space groups (Pnma and Cmc21). The force constants were found by varying the paramete 1's in appropriate semi-empirical inter-atomic potentia1 functions to obtain agreement with observed infra-red absorption frequencies. A frequency distr
