Transferrin (Tf) subtypes were determined by isoelectric focusing and polyacrylamide gelelectrophoresis on samples from 380 unrelated individuals. The following gene frequencies were observed: Tf c~ 0.7816, Tf c2 0.1355, Tf c3 0.0711, and Tf B 0.0118.

✦ Synopsis
Phosphoglucomutase (PGM1a) subtypes were determined by isoelectric focusing on samples of 496 unrelated individuals. Ten phenotypes were observed as gene products of four alleles at the PGM1 locus, with the following gene frequencies: PGM1a1 = 0.631, PGM1a2 = 0.194, PGM1a3 = 0.126, and PGM1a4 = 0.049. A rare phenotype PGM1(8-a2) was observed.

HIV-1 has a huge genetic diversity. So far, nine subtypes have been isolated, namely, subtypes A, B, C, D, F, G, H, J, and K. Epidemiological study provides information which may help in the development of HIV-1 prevention programs or health policies. In the future, subtyping may also be critical fo
