✦ Synopsis

Diuron and Linuron, two herbicides, with very similar structures were labelled in their aromatic ring with I4C. The yields of the synthesis (starting from BaI4C03) was 8.5% and 4.8%, respectively. Linuron was also labelled with 14C in its urea group with 3 3 % yield.

14C labelled Metribuzine was synthetised in a five step synthesis firom sodium [l-14C]pivalate (trimethyl acetic acid) via o-brom0-[2-~~C]pinacoline (l-bromo-3,3-dimethyl-butan-2-on) and trimethyl [2-14C]pyruvic acid. The total yield was 30% (calculated on sodium pivalate).
