โฆ Synopsis
A static electricquadrupole interaction has been determined 2t tzntaium nuclei in bicyclopentadienyf tantalum dieNoride using time-differential perturbed angulv correlations in the 133-4132 keV any cascade in "'Ta. The mgnitude of the electric-field gradient is found to be (4.8 * 0.3) X IO" V/cm', with an wmmetry 31 of 0.22 + 0.03. The e!ectronic confmration of the tantalum is discuss& in terms of the crystal structure and relative contributions of the Ligands, bonding electrons and the 5d electron to the e!ectric field gradient.
