✦ Synopsis

Calluses of Raphanus sativus var. Cherry Bell were induced in a medium containing 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid and benzy|adenine. The biomass and peroxidase activities were determined, both in agar cultures and cell suspension cultures. Different growth-regulator concentrations induced different responses measured as peroxidase activity in callus. The suspended-cell cultures showed the importance of selecting the cell line, in order to obtain an optimal response in extracellular peroxidase activity. The commercial production of this enzyme by utilizing plant cell tissue cultures is discussed.

De-novo synthesis of acid and basic peroxidases has been studied in cell suspension cultures of tobacco by incorporation of (3)H- and (14)C-amino acids. Incorporation rates were found to be high for acid peroxidases and low for basic peroxidases. Synthesis of all peroxidases was inhibited by cyclohe

## Abstract High density L cell suspension cultures were previously shown to remain viable for indefinite periods of time and to exhibit marked inhibition of DNA synthesis and mitosis while the fraction of total protein synthesis represented by collagen is increased. The present study demonstrates
