✦ Synopsis
In recent years there has been considerable interest in the synthesis and properties of highly crowded olefins.' Much of this effort has been concentrated on obtaining tetraHbuty1 ethylene (L). Whilst this has remained an elusive goal some olefins which approach its high degree of steric crowding (for example 2 and 3) have been obtained.
