## Abstract ## Background. The term primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) encompasses a number of neoplasms of common neuroectodermal origin, but of variable clinical, histopathologic, ultrastructural, and molecular characteristics. Here, we focus on one particular member of the PNET family, the
