## Abstract Hydraulic engineering is usually based on theoretical analysis and/or numerical modelling simulation. As the dynamic behaviour of sediment movement under unsteady flow is still unclear, and field measurement is comparatively difficult during a large flood, prior investigations through f

โฆ Synopsis
Works of the author with colleagues devoted to performance of catalytic processes in forced unsteady-state conditions in reactors with fixed bed of catalyst are briefly reviewed. Special attention is paid to periodic change of direction of reaction mixture passingthroughthe catalyst bedreverse-process. Examples of industrial applications of the reverse-process are given.

Laboratory experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of the original size distribution of sediment and unsteady flow characteristics on the composition of an armour layer in a straight open flume. Bed sediments having different size distribution were subjected to flow hydrographs that var
