Anachis avara SAY, a prosobranch gastropod belonging to the family Columbellidae, is found near low tide mark upon rocky shorelines and jetties along the New England coast (fig . 13) . Apparently no published literature exists on the natural history of Anachis avara despite its commonplace occurrenc
