✦ Synopsis
Peculiarities of inhibition of polymerization of ethylene with Ziegler-Natta catalysts by carbon monoxide
The inhibiting action of carbon monoxide to ethylene polymerization with the catalytic systems Cp,TiCI,/AI(CH,),CI and VC14/A41(C2H5)2Cl has been studied. Both the polymerization rate and molecular weight of the polymers obtained were found t o decrease with increasing concentration of carbon monoxide. The values of the relationship between the decay constant of the active sites and the propagation rate constant was determined. Cp,Ti+. CO) Cp,Ti+-C-CH, I II 3 Acta Polymer., Bd. 35. Xr. 1

Ethylene polymerization reactions with many Ziegler-Natta catalysts exhibit several features which differentiate them from polymerization reactions of ␣-olefins: a relatively low ethylene reactivity, higher polymerization rates in the presence of ␣-olefins, a high reaction order with respect to ethy
