To get companies started in CAD, the UK Machine Tool Industry Research Association is demonstrating programmable calculator programs to gear designers. Programs for designing spur and helical gears, three gears with common driver, for calculating gear and shaft inertias and determining gear inspection dimensions are available on Texas Instruments TI-59 calculators, along with full documentation.
