โฆ Synopsis
A new layered cuprate Pb 2 Sr 2 Cu 2 TaO 8 Cl has been successfully synthesized and identified by X-ray diffraction analysis. The compound crystallizes in the hematophanite structure with the space group P4/mmm. The lattice parameters of a โซุโฌ 3.8921(1) A s s and c โซุโฌ 15.3835(4) A s s were obtained by fitting the observed XRD pattern using the Rietveld refinement method. The structure of Pb 2 Sr 2 Cu 2 TaO 8 Cl is built up by [Pb 2 Cl] layer, CuO 5 pyramidal layers, and SrTaO 3 perovskite layer alternatively along the c direction. Although complete CuO 5 pyramidal planes exist in the present compounds, the as-prepared samples are insulating.
