Formation of a New Series of 1222 Layered Cuprates (Cd,M)Sr2(Gd,Ce) 2Cu2Oy (M: Ce, Sn, Mo, and V).

-Novel layered cuprates (Cd0.5M0.5)Sr2(Gd2-xCex)Cu2Oy (M: Ce, Sn, Mo, V) are prepared by solid-state reaction at 900 • C in air or flowing O2. Structure determination by powder XRD methods show a direct relationship to the structure of (Pb,Cu)-1222 superconductors. For M: Sn, single phases are obtained in the range 0.6 ≤ x . ltoreq. 0.9.
