Abstract
The new phytosphingosineโtype ceramide 1, named paxillamide (=2,3โdihydroxyโNโ[(1__S__,2__S__,3__R__)โ2,3โdihydroxyโ1โ(hydroxymethyl)heptadecyl]tetracosanamide), was isolated from the CHCl~3~/MeOH extract of the fruiting bodies of the Basidiomycete Paxillus panuoides, and its structure was elucidated by spectroscopic and chemical methods.
