Abstract

The new phytosphingosineโ€type ceramide 1, named paxillamide (=2,3โ€dihydroxyโ€Nโ€[(1__S__,2__S__,3__R__)โ€2,3โ€dihydroxyโ€1โ€(hydroxymethyl)heptadecyl]tetracosanamide), was isolated from the CHCl~3~/MeOH extract of the fruiting bodies of the Basidiomycete Paxillus panuoides, and its structure was elucidated by spectroscopic and chemical methods.

## Abstract A new metabolite with __p__ โ€terphenyl core, named sarcodan **(1)**, together with three known __p__ โ€terphenyl metabolites **(3, 4, 5)** represented as Fig. 1, was isolated from the fruiting bodies of the basidiomycete __Sarcodon laevigatum__ . The structures of these compounds were el
