This study compared the concerns that prompted chents to seek counselhng at a South African and a North American campus A further assessment of first-year student chent concerns was done m order to establish the extent of the use of the counselhng serwce m relation to the expressed needs of the first-year student populaUon Altogether 580 chents were surveyed and depression, family problems and anxiety/stress were hsted as concerns by more chents than other personal concerns on both campuses
