Alignment or patterning of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is particularly important for fabricating functional devices such as field emitters, nanophotonics, nanoelectronics, and ultrahydrophobic materials. This work briefly reviews recent progress on the synthesis of two-dimensional CNT patterns, and then
