## Abstract Aggregation factors isolated from the cell surface of five species of sponge are shown to be specific in their ability to enhance cell aggregation. Factors from __Haliclona viridis, Haliclona variabilis, Tedania ignis, Homaxinella rudis__, and __Dysidea crawshayi__ each exhibit the spec

by bacteria are present. By the high uptake rate of the bacteria, the DOC produced by O. redekei are taken up quantitatively.
It has already been previously demonstrated that in a stratified lake the distribution pattern of bacteria corresponds tO the availability of different substrates [8]. The results of the microecosystem experiments confirm the complexity of the metabolic coupling of autotrophic and heterotrophic microplankton in the lake ecosystem.
