✦ Synopsis

Laser induced dielectric breakdown has &en utilized to initiate, sustain and study a number of chemical reactions.

A I joule per Iine TEA CO2 Iaser has been used as the source to induce dielectric breakdown. Product analysis was caxried out by mass spectrometry and infrared spcc%oscop~. The reactions and method are discussed in terms of efficiency, selectivity and scope.

Laser induced dielectric breakdown (LIDB) has been documented in UF6 at pressures ranging from 8-100 ton. A high power, line selectable TEA CO2 laser has been used as the source to induce the dielectric breakdown (DB). Reactions of the fragmented UFb with Hz have been studied at various pressure rat
