β¦ Synopsis
In an investigation of the paper chromatographic characteristics of a number of r-oxygenated steroids, it has been shown that the contribution to polarity of the
C-II
carbonyl group in r ,rr-diketones is aberrantly large and that, contrary to the general rule, the equatorial member of most pairs of epimeric 1-01s is the more mobile. Various mechanisms have been proposed to account for these results.
