β¦ Synopsis
Several androgenic progestins and corticosteroids were oxidized to the corresponding carbonyl-containing compounds. Oxidation was achieved by treatment with chromium trioxide under acidic conditions. The oxidation products were studied by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. The gas chromatographic method was found to be very rapid because of the short retention times of the oxidation products. It was also found to be very sensitive for submicrogram levels. Mass spectral studies proved the structure of the products.

An increasing amount of evidence is accumulating to support the proposal that steroidogenesis can occur by a sesterterpene pathway as well as the cholesterol pathway. Key intermediates on the sesterterpene pathway are 23,24-dinor-5-cholen-3~ol (guneribol) and some of its metabolites, e.g. 23,24dinor
The use of capillary column gas chromatography and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry for the analysis of a series of standard solutions (0.1 to 10 pg/ml) of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) and eight other nitroaromatic components wasevaluated. The techniques included gas chromatography with electron
The gas chromatographic/mass spectrometric characteristics of 26 congeners of polychlorinated dibenzofurans, previously characterized by specific synthetic routes and by standard spectroscopic techniques, have been evaluated. The electron impact mass spectra are not particularly isomer-specific, tho
Organic acidurias are a wide group of inherited metabolic diseases, sometimes with acute neonatal symptoms and life risk in the newborn. The clinical features are often not specific, but the pattern of urinary organic acids is diagnostic. Correct identification of metabolites and timely response are
