Two low-rank mature coals have been oxidized with alkaline nitrobenzene. Soluble phenolic aldehydes and ketones were obtained, similar to those formed from lignites and separable by the same scheme of extraction.

โฆ Synopsis
thanks are due to Sam Jones for the preparation of the chloroform extracts.
Measured proton second moments and the equation of the line in Fipure I can be used to estimate the concentrations of aromatic plus alpha-aliphatic protons in whole pitch samples. Table gives results obtained for a variety of petroleum and coal-tar pitches.
We now hope to combine carbon-13 n.m.r. with the above work to define further both pitch and pitch extracts.

This study addresses the dependence of the rate and pattern of pyrolysis of solid fuels from the oxidizing versus inert nature of the gaseous atmosphere. A selection of four solid fuels is considered in the study, namely two plastics (polyethylene and polyethylene terephthalate), one lignocellulosic
Glass is the most recognised material to seal solid oxide fuel/electrolyser cell components. We have developed a SrO-La 2 O 3 -Al 2 O 3 -SiO 2 (SABS-0) based seal glass with all the desired thermophysical properties and thermochemical stability. In this study, the SABS-0 seal glass is sandwiched bet
