✦ Synopsis


This study reports evidence for the generation of chlorine from NaCl as starting material when aqueous-solution oxidizing materials such as Ce(SO& -4Hz0, Suprov (perisophthalic acid), MPPA (monoperouyphthalic acid) and NaBOs. 4H20 are brought in contact with catalytic amounts of powdered Ru02. Cl2 evolution takes place, showing that very low energy losses occur when a suitable redox catalyst mediates the oxidation step.
