Oxidative Chlorination of Acetanilides by Metal Chlorides-Hydrogen Peroxide in Acid-Aqueous Medium Systems.

-Introduction of chlorine into the aromatic ring of acetanilides can be achieved by treatment with metal chloride-H2O2-acid systems in aqueous medium. The influence of substituents at the aromatic ring on the chlorination as well as the efficiency of various metal chlorides and acids in the chlorination reaction is studied.
