โœฆ Synopsis

This symposium will be devoted to the recent achievements on oxidation reactions catalyzed by metalloporphyrin complexes. John T. Groves will present the latest results on the characterization of the high-valent metal-oxo species generated when activating metalloporphyrins with different oxygen atom donors. John R. Lindsay Smith will develop the use of metalloporphyrin catalysts as models of peroxi-dases and also the use of supported metalloporphyrins in the catalytic oxidations of hydrocarbons. Modeling studies on chloroperoxidase will be detailed by W. D. Woggon. The key role of the axial thiolate ligand on the reactivity of an high-valent iron-oxo porphyrin complex in hydrocarbon oxidation will be discussed by T. Higuchi. J. C. Marchon will talk on the use of chiral metalloporphyrins in substrate recognition and also in asymmetric oxidation reactions.
