Abstract

The conformation and relative configuration of various condensed heterocycles possessing a 2,3‐dihydro‐1,5‐benzothiazepine moiety and their synthetic intermediates were determined by ^1^H and ^13^C NMR spectroscopy. It was found that epimerization takes place during the ring closure reaction.
