โฆ Synopsis
Combination overtone transitions of 12 CO 2 much weaker than the Venus bands in the near infrared (11 700 -14 200 cm ฯช1 ) have been observed for the first time by using photoacoustic spectroscopy. A total of six bands from two Fermi polyad groups were recorded and both the band origins and relative intensities have been determined and compared with the calculated values. Through a comparison of the relative absorption cross sections within the same type of polyads, intensity shifts have been observed and will be discussed.

The saturation spectra of the 2n 2 and the 3n 2 -n 2 bands of carbonyl sulfide have been studied using a CO 2 laser sideband spectrometer. The frequency of 20 absorption lines has been determined with an accuracy of 20 kHz. These data have been included in a global rovibrational analysis including a
Vibrational overtone transitions of OCS in the near infrared, 10 000-14 000 cm 01 , are observed for the first time by means of the photoacoustic technique. The spectra are analyzed using molecular parameters and Hamiltonions derived for energy levels below 5000 cm 01 . It is demonstrated that the m
