✦ Synopsis
ix + 615 pp., illustrated.
The authors have written a clear, concise text on the material generally presented in beginning pharmacy courses. I t is probably the best presentation of this subject matter that has yet been published.
The first six chapters which deal with the history, ethics, curriculum, opportunities, and literature of pharmacy, give an excellent over-all picture of the profession. No attempt is made to cover up the known weaknesses, but instead they are pointed out. This type of approach should be of great help and interest to beginning students. The section on "Pharmacy in the United States" is one of the high spots in these first chapters. The table on Development of Pharmacy in the United States, 1881-1915, is worthy of close scrutiny by both students and instructor.
