โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

This paper reports on a national study of information literacy instruction at Canadian business schools. The research question examined was: what is the interplay between factors of the learning environment and information literacy program components on business student learning outcomes? The question was examined in a fourโ€phase study; data focusing on student learning outcomes drawn from the first phase is reported here. Library administrators, librarians, teaching faculty, and business students were interviewed about students' information literacy instructional experiences, and the outcomes arising from those experiences, observed by these four groups. Data indicate a wide range of positive outcomes, including specific skill development and increased confidence; however, expected transferability of those outcomes beyond the walls of the educational institution remains doubtful.
