✦ Synopsis
Monolayers of poly( N-(pper!luorodecylsulfonylphenyl)-Lprolinol acrylate) and N-(pperfIuorodecylsulfonylphenyl)-L-prolinol at the air-water interface are compared. Both monolayers exhibit a liquid-like phase in which a polar orientational orderas probed by optical second-harmonic generation -increases with the surface density (pressure). However, a closer packing, as well as a higher polar orientational order, are achieved in the polymeric monolayer.
