Werkstoffe und Korrosion 31,495-512 (1980) 80-1800 Optical Reflectance Method for Analyzing Anodic Films Formod on Aluminum. A nondestructive and sensitive optical reflectance technique for observing the growth and composition of the anodic films on Al, which in principle can be related to the variation of film structure is presented. The amount of ad-anions incorporated in the anodic film is also determined. Aluminum wes mechanically polished and then anodized at constant potential in various concentrations of phosphoric or sulfuric acid solutions. Infrared reflectance spectra were recorded in the double beam mode over the frequency range of 4000 to 300 c w ' . 1 1 ref.
