Nitrogen (N) sources, the critical medium component, were optimized for squalene production by microalga Aurantiochytrium sp. in heterotrophic cultures. In screening experiments monosodium glutamate, yeast extract and tryptone were found to enhance cell growth and squalene production. The optimal le
