โฆ Synopsis
When two consecutive reactions occur on two different catalysts, there arises the problem of packing the reactor with catalyst in an optimal way. In a recent paper using a numerical method an unusual optimal profile which was called Bang-Chatter/Bang-Bang was found. Using an analytical condition published elsewhere, we are able to show for the examples studied, that the maximum number of switches is two with one possible singular subsection. This result excludes the possibility of chattering control.
