Optically detected magnetic resonance (ODMR) techniques are used to determine the orbital asQnment of the phosphorescent triplet state of p-benzoquinone in the condensed phase. The principal spin-orbit coupl% routes are discussed in terms of the observed spin-vibronic activity.

By magnetic resonance es~criments on the phosphorescing triplet state of biacetyl in a 3-methytpentane glass the zero field splittings and the populating and depopulating rates of the individual triplet spin Ieveis have been me=ured. From these data an assignment of the zero field levels and mechani
