✦ Synopsis
The levels with (v) from 1 to 9 in the ((8 d)^{\prime} \Delta_{8}) state of (\mathrm{Na}{2}) have been observed by means of optical-optical double-resonance (OODR) fluorescence excitation spectroscopy. The intermediate levels in the (B^{1} \Pi{u}) state are justified by numerical calculations with the molecular constants by Kusch and Hessel (J. Chem. Phys. 68, 2591-2607 (1978)) for (B^{\prime} \Pi_{u} \leftarrow X^{\prime} \Sigma_{B}^{+})transitions and confirmed by the complementary experiments for polarization spectra of (A^{\prime} \Sigma_{u}^{+} \leftarrow X^{\prime} \Sigma_{8}^{+})transitions. The Dunham coefficients and the Rydberg-Klein-Rees (RKR) potential energy curve of the ((8 d)^{\prime} \Delta_{\mathrm{g}}) state are determined. (c) 1993 Academic Press, Inc.
