The gas-phase clustering reactions of SF~, SF 6 and F-ions with SF 6 were measured using a high-pressure mass spectrometer. The bond energies of SFs--(SF6) 1 and SF6(SF6) 1 were estimated to be ~< 2.3 kcal/mol. The bond energies of F-(SF6) , with n = 1 and 2 were determined to be 5.4 and = 4.1 kcal/
Isolated (SFs)5s clusters, as studied by computer simulation, exhibit a phase behavior which is essentially similar to the bulk material. Conversely, the molecular packing of (SF6)ts is close-to-icosahedral. No sign of a transition with coexistence of rigid and non-rigid states was found in (SF,) ,x
The electron photodetachment (PD) spectra of the molecular anions of sulfur hexafluoride (SF,), peffluoromethylcyclohexane (C,F,,), perfluorocyclohexane (C,F,,), tram+perfluorodecaline (C,aF,s), and cis-perfhtorodecaline (&F,s) at 150Β°C in nitrogen buffer gas at atmospheric pressure are reported.
