β¦ Synopsis
Some time ago the observation by e.s.r. of ps.rs.maSnetic species derived from cyclopropsne, adamantane, and hexcmctbylenetetrsmine was reported Prcm these laboratories (2). Since that time we have devoted considerable effort to this area with rather conflictini: results which we feel are nevertheless worth summarizing in view of the interes t the work has eqendered (3,4,5);.
Our work has been carried out in two phases (6). In the first phase the fol.lowi.nS observations were made by use of dinethoxyethaneltetrahydrontrrrn

I n most cases silicon-nitrogen compounds are readily cleaved by Lewis acids at the Si--N bondL21. Treatment of bisftri-methylsily1)diimine 131 should thus lead to a synthesis of new derivatives of diimine. R--N=N-R:
Abstraet--l,2,4,5-Tetramesitoylbenzene was synthesized and reduced with alkali metals as well as electrolytically. EPR spectra of the resulting radical-ion pairs are reported and discussed. The electron-spin densities obtained from splitting constants are compared to the results of MO calculations.
We wish to report rate constants for the reaction of superoxide anion radical, 02', with various aliphatic bromides in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) solution. The results suggest that 02; is one of the most potent nucleophiles yet studied. Superoxide ion is the radical anion derived by adding an electro
