The soliton of the effective chiral action of QCD is quitntized in : t semiclassical fashion using the "cranking approach" developed for the description of rotating nuclei. It is shown that for the Skyrmion model this approach is equivaIent to the semiclassical quantization proposed by Adkins et al. Contrasting the assumptions of the cranking approach to the experimcntc~1 excitation spectrum of the nucleon leads to the conclusion that the semiclamical quantization is inappliciible to the chiral soliton if the latter is to describe the physical nucleon.
Zur semiklassischen Quantisierung des chiralen Solitons
I n h a l t s u b e r s i c h t . Das Soliton der effrktivcm chiralen Wirkung der QCI) wird quantisiert im Itahmen des sogenannten ,,Cranking"-Zuganges, der fur die Beschreibung von rotierenden Kernen entwicktlt wurde. Es wird gezeigt, daB fur das Skyrme-Xodell dieser Zugang aquivalent der semiklassischen Quantisierung von Adkins et al. ist. Durch Analyse des experimentellen Anrrgungsspektrums des Nukleons im Rahmcn des Cranking-Zugangrs wird gczrigt, daB die semiklassische Quantisierung nicht an-tndbar s t fur das ehirale Soliton, falls dicses das physikalischt Xukleon beschrtiben soll.

The semiclassical self-consistent field method is applied to the computation of intrashell resonances of the He atom. Results for high-lying states, where quantum calculations are difficult, are accurate to better than 1% despite the fully chaotic nature of the dynamics. Like the exact wavefunction,
