r A shor! seven years ago the newspapers of the country ~x ere publlshmg lengthy accounts of physical experlments, that were being carried on by scientific investigators all over the civilized world. These experiments were being made with a view of proving, or disproving, if possible, the assertion of a German professor of physics, that he had made a wonderful discovery, and that he was able, by means of certain well-known physical apparatus, to take photographs of objects that were invisible to the.human eye.
How slow the civilized world was to grasp or appreciate the possibilities contained in the original contribution, is evidenced by the fact that it was nearly a calendar month after Professor Roentgen announced his discovery before
