A simple statistical-mechanical model which describes the thermodynamic properties of a system of spherically symmetrical particles adsorbed on a crystalline substrate. has been suggested. The present approach tackles both highelow density phase transitions (2-D condensation) as well as high(l) + hi

✦ Synopsis
The solid-solid phase transition of acetylene& at 149i 1 K was investigated using a thenal neutron powder diffrao tion technique. Due to a rapid recrystallization in the vicinity of the transition point the study of the kinetics of the tr;nsition was not successful.

Time-resolved studies of silylene, SiH2, generated by laser-flash photolysis of phenylsilane, have been employed to obtain rate constants for its bimolecular reactions with C2H2 and C2D2. The reactions have been studied in the gas-phase, in the pressure range 1-100 torr (with SF6 bath gas) at five t
The graphite-HNO$ lamellar compounds have high chemical stability and a smaller interlayer distance di = 6.55 A, than in normal graphite-nitrate (G.NH03a) for which di = 7.80 ii. Various stages 2 s n c 10 are easily synthetized. Results are presented concerning thermal analysis, the stage structure
