The graphite-HNO$ lamellar compounds have high chemical stability and a smaller interlayer distance di = 6.55 A, than in normal graphite-nitrate (G.NH03a)
for which di = 7.80 ii. Various stages 2 s n c 10 are easily synthetized. Results are presented concerning thermal analysis, the stage structure by X-ray diffraction (001 and hkl) and the electrical conductivity versus stage and temperature.
