โฆ Synopsis
A solution is found to tile problem of determining the optimal distribution of the Young's modulus of a simply supported prestressed beam with constant cross-section, which renders the highest possible value of the first fundamental frequency of free lateral vibrations. Also the optimal distribution of the Young's modulus of a simply supported buckling beam is determined.
