The interfacial smoothness of GaAslAlAs quantum well structures is examined using photoluminescence (PL) and reflection high-energy electron diffraction @HEED). Transitions from what are commonly referred to as "pseudo-smooth" to "rough" to "truly-smooth" interfaces are observed by varying the grow
