The emissive and followed absorptive time-resolved ESR signals of the ground state (4A2g) of the Cr(lll) ion were observed in ruby after irradiation of the second harmonics of a Nd:YAG laser. Abnormal spin-polarization occurred at the ground state sublevels by laser excitation over sub-milliseconds.

The magnetically wrturbed hiijssbauer spectra of iron(III) (dithioacetylscetonate)J show 'I,-< 0 corresponding to a dx,, hole and a \*A sound term. These results support a recent study of the temperature dependence of the quadrupole splitting and suggest that the origin of the quadrupole splitting i
