Let If(v) be the set of a11 k such that there exists a pair of Steiner systems S (3, 4, v), the quadruples in one system containing a particular point are the same as those in the other system containing that point, and the two systems have otherwise exactly k quadruples in common. Let Z/(u) = (0, 1, , f, -14, f, -12, f, -8, f,}, f, = (v -l)(v -2)(v -4)/24. It is known [13] that J/(20) = Zr(20) and ZZ( 16) -( 16) sJZ(l6).

We prove here that .Zr(2u) = ZZ(2v) for all admissible u > 14.
