The amount of hydrogen evolved during the oxidation of formaldehyde at Ib electrodes was determined as a function of the potential. The current efficiency (amount of H, per two anodic electrons) can exceed 100% suggesting a reaction sequence which involves the (non-electrochemical) dissociation of a
