✦ Synopsis

The effect of interlamina micro-cracks in a periodically layered medium on interactions and a wave propagation is investigated. The refined continuum model of micro-damaged layered media which takes into account the length-scale effects, is proposed. The general results are applied to the free vibration analysis.

The aim of this paper is to describe how micro-cracks distributed on the interfaces in a periodic stratified medium effect apparent properties of this medium. The problem is investigated for linear-elastic materials and under assumption of the long-wave approximation. The general results are illustr

A model to describe the damage state of materials is developed within the framework of Continuum Damage Mechanics. The damage variable is considered as a random variable. To predict the damage state in a body, knowledge of its intrinsic damage distribution is required. After dividing the body into a

In recent years a great deal of attention has been paid to the dynamic failure phenomena of materials and structures [1][2][3][4]. Recently, the hollow spherical meso-model for the dynamic evolution of ductile damage, developed by Carroll and Holt [1] and Johnson [2], was introduced in order to inve
