โœฆ Synopsis

SEVEN FIOUMS

I n the primordium of the internal ear of embryos of the salamander, Amblystoma punctatum (Linn.), there is known to be a polarization which determines the arrangement of the structures along the antero-posterior (cephalo-caudal) axis of the differentiated labyrinth.

This polarization is found during and after fusion of the neural folds. It has been revealed by grafting the ear ectoderm to the ear region of another embryo of the same stage, and rotating the graft in such a way that its a p axis is reversed with respect to that of the host (Harrison, '24, '36).
