β¦ Synopsis
The fluorescence decay pattern of solid solutions of anthracer r: in naphthalene is investigated. It is found that the decay pattern of the naphthalene ikorescence differs from that of the anthracene fluorescence even when the latter is due solely to energy transfer from naphthslene The results are interpreted to indicate the prevalence of two exciton transfer mechanisms. Anslo-gous measurements in Iiquid solutions and in solid solutions containing &methyl naphthaIene as an additional soIute are described.
